Visualizing the Bible

on Thursday, October 2, 2008

On of my good friends, Jason Alejandro sent me this graphic he came across. It is a-mazing! Chris Harrison, a student at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA worked along side of Christoph Römhild, a Lutheran Pastor to find a way to visualize the over 63,000 cross references found throughout the Bible. After an extensive amount of time and work they came up with this. (below)

"The bar graph that runs along the bottom represents all of the chapters in the Bible. Books alternate in color between white and light gray. The length of each bar denotes the number of verses in the chapter. Each of the 63,779 cross references found in the Bible is depicted by a single arc - the color corresponds to the distance between the two chapters, creating a rainbow-like effect." - Chris Harrison

Check out some of the other awesome Bible visualizations that Chris put together on his website.
