Weekend Wrapup: What is Your Mission?

on Monday, October 20, 2008

Just wanted to share a few thoughts on last night's service. We had a great time of worship by Jon Capeci, lead singer of the band Dinner and a Suit. Our very own Romain Dublin was our speaker for the night. Last night, we were looking at missions and asking ourselves, "what is my mission?".

It was great to hear from Romain, who I would say was a very successful missionary. I do not say that he was successful because he found a wife and started an awesome youth ministry while he was in South Africa. Instead, it was because Romain wrestled with God's call for Romain to step out in faith. In the end, Romain did just that and awesome things followed.

One of my favorite parts of the night was when Romain described how he IS a missionary, not that he was a missionary when he was in South Africa. That is because a missionary is one who chooses to participate in the mission of the church by serving people of different race, culture and creed.

"We have to see that the mission field is so much bigger than what we make it out to be. The harvest (is still) plenty and the workers (are still) too few! Send me"

Check out the opening video from last night.
